This time experimentation and risk is the only thing to make my animation look and work better. I watched online tutorials for making special effects in After Effects. These got my attention ‘Growing vine animation and camera pan and zoom with null object’. The purpose of the effect is to ‘grow’ or appear a design of your choice moving along with a camera using a null object.

A masters project done at Teesside University. In this project surreal methods have been used to juxtapose the multiple 3d elements. It has a short melody on the background and sound effects on the foreground. I like the ending when the animator builds tension in it. It has very good sound effects going on with the cogs and all the other machinery.

Scariest Music Ever Heard. The Living Hills – Aalborg Ambient Soundtrack Vol.1
Posted: June 18, 2012 in Links, Unit 4: Award Specific Taught UnitThis video has more than one still image. Some pictures are from the Aokigahara forest. The forest is a popular place for suicides, reportedly the world’s second most popular suicide location. The music might be calm but it has a hint of suspence, it’s amazing, ambient and haunting. It makes it scary because you know that the forest is haunted. The soundtrack is a continuously and repeatedly beat.

The video contains animations of the MTV logo. Most of the videos are stop motion combining 2D animation and live action. The colours are very bright and graphic. Also, the animations are entertaining, playful and musical.

I like the way the artist evokes tension within the soundtrack in a relation with the visual work. Some of the images are old and greyscale. The video has a continuously beat and never changes its rhythm.

This video supports the word suspence really good. It’s a black screen with sunspenful music. It is slowly building tension by adding power with brass hits.
